Misc Cuteness

Her first Sunday home we had a blast dressing her up and putting a bow in her hair.
She doesn't do this face as much now, but for the first month it was a usual. We loved it!
We wanted to see if Hailey fit her new umbrella stroller. All bundled in a blanket we secured her whole body with the waist belt.
Her hair is so cute! We don't know yet exactly what color it's going to be. It's a pretty light brown now and it's getting long.
Hailey loves the mobile from Aunt Jeanette and Uncle Ed. It's so precious to watch her be amused and fascinated by such simplicty. She studies the pieces so hard.
We were trying to get a cute family snapshot, but Hailey didn't really like the idea.
We occasionally had to supplement in the beginning and we were entertained by her "milk fangs" left behind.
This is a usual face for Hailey. She's a very happy and smiley baby. Matt's especially good at getting big smiles...you'll see below.
I love dressing her up, especially for church. She looks so cute in her dresses. That's a yawn, not a cry, by the way.Hailey seems to know that when daddy comes homes it's time to play. She gives him this expectant look as if to say, "Okay, daddy, what are you going to do next to make me smile." It's so entertaining to watch them play. I don't know what's cuter - her smile or his silliness in attempt to make her smile.
She's really good at looking at the camera for me. It makes for cute photos like this one, but it also makes it difficult when she's doing something cute I want to catch on film and she gets distracted by the camera.
We take turns spending tummy time with her. She looks around with her head up for a while then gets tired and puts her head down to rest.
This was taken on her 2 mo. birthday when we were out for her first mommy-baby outing.
Hailey has very big hands with long skinny fingers. They are so adorable. It was funny when she discovered them with her mouth - but I have to watch her - they're so long she gags herself pretty easily.
This was funny. Matt was at priesthood so Hailey and I were making him a special dessert. I put Hailey up on the counter to watch me and had the idea to give her a spatula for a picture. She grasped onto it, but being the first weighted item she's held, she didn't have any control of it and it touched her forehead, leaving chocolate behind. The photo makes it look like she's learning young how to eat the extras off the spatula.
She's such a fun and pleasant baby. Here she was laying on the bed while I was doing things. She's pretty self-entertained when I need her to be.
It's so precious what she finds to study. She gets a serious look on her face and looks long and hard at something. The other night she was staring at Matt's solid-colored shirt. I pointed to where she appeared to be looking, then moved my finger to point somewhere else on his shirt. She followed my finger several times with a determined look on her face. Matt and I started laughing at her innocence and she broke out into a grin but kept her eyes steady on my finger. It's so fun to watch her learn little things and be fascinated so simply.

Daddy Daughter

Hailey was just a couple of days old. It has been so fun to watch Matt be her daddy. He's so sweet and gentle, but very playful. I thought this picture was adorable! It was our desktop photo for a long time.
Matt is very good at holding her to sleep. I think she feels secure in his big arms.
Hailey loves to look at her daddy. They sit and study each other for several minutes at a time.
There's nothing as sweet as taking a nap with a sleeping baby on your chest.
Sometimes when Hailey's tummy hurts this is her preferred position. It's also a favorite for Matt during play time. Her neck and back have gotten strong from it too.
I was trying to do dishes and Hailey wasn't happy so Matt picked her up and tried to introduce her to his music-writing software. She doesn't yet think to much of it.
These are the photos I referred to above. She loves smiling at her daddy!

Mommy & Baby

Sometimes when Hailey is awake while I'm getting ready, I'll put her on the counter in her carseat and I'll pretend like I'm teaching her how to do make-up or hair. She seems perfectly entertained and actualy interested. I'm sure it's just my voice, movement, etc. but it's fun to watch.

There are moments that Hailey just wants to be held while I need to get things done - or other times when I need to carry things in both hands to a friend's house, etc. This front pack has proven very helpful. I decided to try turning her so she could see things and she loved it, not to mention that she looked adorable!

We took this photo because were so excited about how well she was holding her head off my shoulder. It's so fun to watch her progress.
Me and Hailey playing. Check out the perfect roundness of her cheek in this photo. It looks like she's got something in her mouth.
Hailey and I spend time reading stories before she goes to sleep. You can tell she's very tired.
She doesn't yet really focus on the pictures, but it has been endearing to add stories into her bedtime routine. We signed her up for a program out here that's sponsored by Dolly Parton. Hailey will receive a new book every month we until she's five (well four because we'll be back west by the time she's five).

Bathtime

Hailey hated her first bath. It wasn't until her second bath that I realized it was because she had a very inexperienced mother who thought the water could only be luke warm. We froze her during her first bath. Oops - she hates being cold. Now that I've clued into the fact that you can have some heat to the water, bathtime is one of her favorite times! Matt thought she looked like Christopher Columbus with the washcloth on her head.

Blessing Day

Nearly the entire family on both sides were able to attend Hailey's blessing. She was just three weeks and one day old when she was blessed. Sacrament meeting started a 8AM. Everyone was so good to come to such an early meeting! We had a nice breakfast in Bryce & Krista's backyard. We were so grateful to them for hosting. It was a beautiful day with family. It was hard to believe the next day we'd be moving more than a thousand miles away.
There was an incredible feeling as all these great men gathered around our tiny baby.
Grandma Stevens made Hailey's blessing dress. When Matt and I went up to visit in May, we picked out the fabric. Because we were moving so quickly after Hailey's birth and wanted to bless her in Utah, making the dress was a challenge because we didn't know what size Hailey would be. It fit her perfectly and we let her wear it all day.

This is one of my most favorite photos. It shows Hailey's complete innocence and trust in and admiration of her daddy. We hope there were other cameras going because we have relatively few photos of all the attendees. Here are what we do have:

Uncle Lane and cousin MeganUncle Ed & Aunt Jeanette
Cousins Megan, Trevor, Bradley, Caitlin and Kirsten
Cousin David
Cousin Calvin Cousins Sarah, Avery & Mary
Sarah makes Hailey feel like a "Super-Star!"
Good friends Devin & Naomi

Tummy Time & Blue Eyes

Some of the cutest photos of Hailey have been during her daily tummy time. If you click on the photo to enlarge it you can really see how blue her eyes are. Matt was hoping her eyes would stay blue, and so far, they have. She also has her daddy's eyelashes. Check them out on the second to last photo (especially obvious when you enlarge it).
