Thanks to the incredible generosities of his sister and her husband (and their incredible amount of frequent flyer miles), Matt and I had the opportunity to spend ten days in Europe. It was a wonderful fourth anniversary celebration. The only down of it was leaving Hailey. Matt's parents were very kind to take care of Hailey for us and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I was able to relax and enjoy the time away. We took hundreds of photos, but I trimmed it down to a small selection from each city. Thanks Bill and Melissa for a wonderful vacation!

In the evenings they have a beautiful fountain show. The water shoots so high in the air and the lights change colors. The dramatic classical music finishes the experience.

Matt dipped me in front of the fountains, but the wind changed direction and got the camera lens so it didn't focus exactly right, but it was fun anyway.

A view of the city. For as crammed as it looks, it didn't feel so much that way when we were wandering the streets.

Matt's aunt lives in Barcelona right now and was our tour guide and hostess. We were so glad to have the chance to see her and spend some time. Thanks Katie!

This is an incredible building that they're still working to build. If I remember right, they've been working on it for close to a hundred years.

There was a magnificent and large rose garden we visited. There were thousands of roses of all colors and variations. It was a wonderful Sunday walk.

This is what their sidewalks look like. I thought they were so beautiful I had to take a picture.

While in Barcelona, I learned of an architect name Gaudi. His work is absolutely incredible. He works heavily with tile - see photo above and below. He made a great influence on the city and was designer for many prominent buildings.

I just had to take a photo. We were just walking down a street and saw this window. It was just so perfectly Spanish that I had to capture it.

This isn't a very clear photo, but it's of the steps that Christopher Columbus returned to after finding the Americas.

It is all so beautiful! I am so thankful that you and Matt had the opportunity to go and create wonderful memories that will last a life time!! We love you!
what an AMAZING trip!!! I loved the photos of everything! Someday I would LOVE to go to Europe. Our 4th year anniversary looks extremely weak in comparison to you guys! :) I'm glad you got to enjoy a getaway together.
Wow that is incredible! Have you been planning this for a while! What a wonderful time to get away and site see in Spain!!
Hailey must have a great disposition because Reagan would flip if we tried leaving her!!! (and they're about the same age) It's funny how kids have such different personalities. How nice to have some time just the two of you before another baby comes
Matt and Corrine, So glad you guys got to go. We were reminicing watching your blog. HOpefully someday we will get to go back to spain and relive falling in love! Love you guys!

I love Europe and I love your posts! And I agree about London. Cool city but way too crowded and way too much like NYC. I'm so excited you got to go! Steve and I are hoping to visit a friend in Germany next year. Hoping...
Thanks for your comment on my running post! Yes, Mizunos are awesome...this is only my second pair, but I am loving them. They're working wonders for my obnoxiously awful feet.
Funny about your one lost toenail...I've run two half marathons, and during both, in a pair of Aasics, both of my feet went numb for the first 7 miles! It was quite odd, since it never had happened during my longer runs. Whatever -- I still crossed the finish line, numb feet or not. It really does make statement, I think, when you only have very minor giltches happen to your feet in a long run/race.
Anyway -- I am loving these pictures of your trip to Europe...and secretly envying your chance to go! I'm glad you did -- was it just you two, and you left Hailey with your parents? Anyway, it looks like it was a blast. I love looking at cool buildings that have such a historical background, like that one with all the tiles on the ceiling (I think it was the ceiling).
